A little history-
Integrated Inspection Systems was founded in 1995, starting in a residential basement with a desk, computer and a pair of calipers. The founders came from Precision Castparts Inc with various backgrounds. From 1995 to 1996 IIS worked on small business networking with windows 95. This created cash flow while the quality manual was being written. Once completed, a Zeiss CMM was leased from Hanard Machine in Salem Oregon. The open capacity was on late swing to graveyard. For the next 18 months the business grew from Metrology in the plastics industry, mainly centered around Hewlett Packard product. Applying sound GD&T principles learned from the Aerospace industry was a starting point that a lot of the suppliers for HP could not provide or keep up with the demand. This led to purchasing our own Zeiss in late 1998 and establishing our own footprint in Beaverton with a 2000 square foot building. The new inspection demand formed a comprehensive understanding of high volume data collection and statistical analysis including outlier algorithms. Applying Measuring System Analysis (Adopted from the big three automotive industry) was imperative to achieve the capability that HP required. The growth allowed us to move to a 5000 square foot facility in SE Portland. From 1999 to 2001 the business grew to purchasing our second CMM from Sheffield. In 2001 the dot-com bubble burst shifting the business towards Aerospace inspection and machining. Applying the knowledge gained from the HP analysis process we were able to create a closed loop data collection system. Using our proprietary software MetBase we were able to link data collection from CMM’s to a historical database and also link CNC’s and Vision systems. Once all three systems were integrated we were able to have all 3 systems talk to each other with the data collection. Linking inspection data directly to the CNC’s allowed IIS to build a 3 sigma machining system. From 2001 to 2008 IIS invented a 4 sigma targeting system using MetBase on GE, Seimens and Alstom IGT castings. The business expanded again to our current 20000 square foot facility in Clackamas Oregon. Please view our Machining, Inspection, and Metbase pages to see our current capabilities.
